Debacle in the Capital
It all started with the 100 million dollar man "Fat" Albert Haynesworth talking negatively about the change to a 3-4 defense in the offseason. Personally, if you paid me 100 million dollars you could throw dog $#!# at me for eight hours a day and I wouldn't complain. Haynesworth showed up out of shape and after failing the conditioning test several times it felt like a remake of that De Niro movie "Men of Honor". Haynesworth eventually showed up and has continued his lackluster and inconsistent play.
Flash forward eight weeks. The Redskins trail the mighty Detroit Lions with less than two minutes left. McNabb, the team's starting quarterback for the first 58 minutes of the game, is pulled by the overly tan Shanahan in favor of Rex Grossman. Watching the game (not my choice...my beloved Ravens were on a bye week) I knew this would end badly. As fate would have it Sexy Rexy fumbled on his first snap and the Lions returned it for a touchdown.
Since this decision was made we have heard multiple excuses from the Skins coaches. Immediately following the game Shanny said it was because Grossman was more familiar with the two minute offense due to his time in Houston with Shanny's son. Correct me if I'm wrong but did Grossman play a single snap in Houston? Much less a pressure filled game winning drive on the road??? Also, your telling you you haven't had your starting quarterback practice the two minute drill even though he's been with the team since April? You smell that? It smells a little fishy huh?
Then we heard the reason McNabb was pulled was because of "cardiovascular reasons". Sooo you let him get 98% through the game and then you decide to pull him. While McNabb wasn't playing like a Hall of Famer Shanny has to know that he gives you a better chance to win than Grossman right???? I FEEL LIKE I'M TAKING CRAZY PILLS!! If the problem was McNabb's conditioning they would have said that from the beginning.
The Redskins are now 4-4 and play the hated Eagles following their bye week. Now the rumors are the Skins have been thinking about benching McNabb for weeks. C'mon! He has Chris Cooley and Santana Moss around him but other than that this offense is a bunch of scrubs. He's running for his life on every play and you don't hear a peep from him. McNabb handled his exile from Philly with class and so far he's doing the same in DC. In my opinion this franchise is cursed until Dan Snyder gets his tiny little hands off it. Until then let the circus continue!
