Tim Tebow

To get you prepared for the 2011 season each week we'll be profiling a player who we think will be a great value come draft time, especially if you are in a dynasty/keeper league. Enjoy!

I'll be completely honest with you...I'm not a fan of Tim Tebow. He is former Florida Gator (I went to South Carolina) and his goody two shoes routine gets on my nerves.  I think the guy has talent for sure but you'll never catch me rocking a #15 Broncos jersey. However, if he helps me win a fantasy championship I'd definitely worship a Tebow shrine without hesitation.

When Tebow came into the NFL I thought there was no way he would become a starting NFL quarterback, especially in his rookie year. Yet there he was Week 15 against the Raiders in the Black Hole. What did Tebow do? Tebow became just the third quarterback in NFL history to throw for a touchdown of 30 or more yards and run for a touchdown of 40 or more yards in the same game. He finished the game with a 100.5 passer rating, the highest ever in team history for a professional debut.

Fantasy owners really started taking notice the next week when Tebow threw for 308 yards with one passing touchdown and one rushing touchdown. I immediately picked up God's favorite quarterback. The reason was that the Broncos offense was being centered around Tebow. The playbook was simplified to give Tebow all opportunities to succeed. Tebow will likely be the Broncos' goal line option , a great pass catching back in Knowshon Moreno in the backfield and he has last year's top fantasy receiver at his disposal. The skills are there. He might not have the strongest arm or best mechanics but he makes things happen, both with his arm and his legs. Plus he's a proven winner.

Tebow will have his fantasy doubters. He will no doubt he inconsistent but I'm not suggesting making him your starting QB. I like him in a backup role, especially if you don't grab one of the elite QBs are your starter. Keep him on your roster until your starters bye week and then shop Tebow for RB or WR depth. Selecting Tebow in the later rounds of your draft could pay off with a quality player in return. Best case scenario Tebow explodes and carries your team to a championship. Either way the big guy upstairs will be happy you used a draft pick on His chosen son.

Fearless Prediction: 3,000 passing yards, 18 touchdowns, 500 yards rushing yards, 10 touchdowns
