June 14, 2012 NHL Rumor Update

We're about a week away from the NHL Entry Draft and here a are few rumblings around the league:

Jay Bouwmeester - The Flyers, Canadiens, Hurricanes and Capitals have all been said to have interest. The Flyers would have to ante up in order get the top D-man.

Jordan Staal - If the Flames can move Bouwmeester's sarlary elsewhere, they might join hunt to land the centerman.

Martin Brodeur - IF he comes back, which he keeps saying he wants to, AND the Devils offer him a contract, it would most likely be for one year and could, or should, offer him a position for the future within the organization. If the Devils do bring Brody back, they will have to do something with back up Johan Hedberg and bring in a young goaltender for Brodeur to groom. The Devils still have Parise to worry about and kept their first round pick in this years draft which they opted NOT to forfeit as punishment due to the Kovalchuk deal. This could mean they could trade up in the draft to land goaltender Malcom Subban, P.K.'s little brother. Brodeur deserves the right to decide where he plays next year, and GM Lou Lamoriello will most likely accomodate that.

Zach Parise - When asked if he would consider signing with the Rangers, he flat out said, "No", which makes Minnesota and Toronto my top two choices for Parise at the moment, if he doesn't re-sign with New Jersey. As for a Kings rumor, I doubt that, although they were heavily pursuing him before the deadline - I love the irony.

Alex Radulov - His rights have been traded... in the KHL from CSKA to Salavat. I think everyone has had about enough of this kid. This is interesting because CSKA is also very interested in Alex Semin.

Rick Nash - Nothing too exciting, but with Parise nixing the Rangers as a possible candidate for his services, I think the Rangers will pursue Nash heavily. There is also talk of San Jose and the Blue Jackets talking about a Nash for Pavelski/Niemi deal.

More to come...
