Tweets of the Last Several Weeks (6/13/2012)
Yes folks, it's the return....of Tweets of the Week! My apologies for the abscense, but, I got married June 1 so....that kind of takes priority juuuuuuust a bit! At any rate, I went back and picked out some of my favorite tweets from my Twitter absence, and I hope you enjoy! There's been quite a bit that's happened since the last edition, so let's jump right in!
The NBA Finals are finally here, and there have been a multitude of amazing tweets from the playoffs. Check out some of the best ones below, particularly the link to SBNation's rendition of Blake Griffin's NBA Jam. That was absolutely sensational.
The seemingly neverending topic of College Football realignment has been raging on the last few weeks, although we hopefully, finally may be nearing an end, now that Florida State has chilled out, and Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney has publically said a move to the Big XII would be terrible.
The French Open has come and gone, and in a not-shocking-at-all turn of events, Rafael Nadal won his record breaking 7th French Open Title. But as @AndyHutchins pointed out, an even less surprising trend of Andy Roddick losing early continued again this year. Might be time for the other A-Rod to hang it up. Also, congrats to Maria Sharapova for orgasming dominating her way to the Career Grand Slam, a tremendous achievement.
Extremely unfortunate for the sport of horse racing that I'll Have Another was scratched from the Belmont Stakes with an injury. That was probably the best shot at a Triple Crown winner in a long time. Although I'm sure the horse itself isn't too beat up about it, now that he'll become a full-time stud. However, @Horse_ebooks has been so confused since then that he's even started tweeting in French. Turbulant times for Mr. ebooks.
Euro 2012 has started, and by far the greatest moment of the tournament so far was the reaction from a young Ukranian fan after the team scored against Sweden. If you haven't seen it, you'll see it below...it's fantastic.
The LA Kings finally finished off the New Jersey Devils in Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Finals last night, in an anti-climatic game thanks to probably one of the most boneheaded boarding penalties in the history of the sport. But, the moment of the game was clearly seeing the reaction of longtime Kings fan and NBC sports anchor Al Michaels...who still uses a flip phone that looks like it's from the late 1990s. Also, #specialshoutout to @RnR_NCSU for his excellent use of creating a "The Californians" meme after the game.
In the world of television, the final two episodes of Game of Thrones were stunningly incredible, both in terms of the show itself and the snark on Twitter. I agree with @MikeDrucker that Danaerys Targaryen has the potential for a budding career in the music industry.
Staying in the realm of pop culture, legendary pornstar Jenna Jameson was apparently busted for DUI while I was on my honeymoon. I could make an entire post from the jokes on Twitter about her arrest, and some were just incredible.
Last but not least, if you haven't seen the picture of Justin Tuck's new facemask, it went viral all over Twitter yesterday. Needless to say, this guy and this guy both greatly approve.
That's a wrap for this edition of the IHJJR Tweets of the Week! Got a nomination? Send me (@thrillis4) a tweet/DM with the hashtag #IHJJRTweetsOfTheWeek. Hope you enjoy!
