Week 12 Fantasy Football Recap
|Dwayne Bowe had three TD's for the Chiefs in Week 12|
Here are the participants:
Clint from YHIHF Fantasy Football
Ryan from Football Sickness
Phil from I Hate JJ Redick
Football Sickness: Let me be the first to mention: ADRIAN PETERSON GOT HURT. (And thereby slaughtered my chances, along with crap days from Roddy, DeSean & Bironas). I am here.
YHIHF: What's up Ryan? Haha. Nice entrance.
IHJJR: Is it serious?
Football Sickness: It might be. MRI tomorrow on his ankle, but he tweeted he's OK...we'll see. He's a tough dude. But the incredibly encouraging stat to take is that new HC Leslie Frazier gave Toby Gerhart 22 carries. I can only assume Peterson would have received a similar or better workload. So things look up in that direction. As they do with Mr. Charles. But we'll get to that, I suspect.
YHIHF: Yeah, lets hope AP isn't hurt too seriously. It sounded like he was going to return to the game, but didn't. So that would indicate it's not too bad, I think.
YHIHF: I have to ask this Phil - still think Peyton Hillis is an average running back?
Football Sickness: Ah, Hillis. Good question. (Waits patiently.)
IHJJR: Listen.....next season Hillis will be that guy the fantasy magazines LOVE. I won't be on the bandwagon. NO WAY he does this next season.
Football Sickness: He'll split carries w/Hardesty next season, so Phil's right- but he'll be WELL worth having. They're not going to stop running. LT & Shonn Greene are both worth having. Alstott and Dunn were. In today's NFL, almost everybody has 2 fantasy-used backs. But all you have to do to know he isn't average is, as Garrett Anderson used to say when people questioned his ability, is: "Check the numbers." And not just the ones in Cleveland. He's always been really good.
YHIHF: Well I like Hillis obviously now, but for next year too. Yes, I agree with you both that he won't have a season like this one again, but he's a solid RB. Those type of players are who I would want on my team if I were a coach.
Football Sickness: In addition to a monster running game, Hillis caught a slew of balls for over 60 yards again. They're in love with him. And no new coach, if there is one (I don't think there will be) is going to ignore him anymore.
IHJJR: He's good....is he one of the top 20 running backs in the league? Hell no. For fantasy purposes he's an elite guy.
Football Sickness: I say yes, absolutely. He's nearly single-handedly taken that team from total garbage to clearly competitive. On offense, it IS singlehandedly. And the line hasn't been as good as the last couple years by a good sight.
IHJJR: Can't deny that.
YHIHF: I think he's top 20 in the league man.
Football Sickness: He put up 140 on your Ravens, man. Show some love.
IHJJR: He's having a fluke year. Sorry I'm just not on the bandwagon.
Football Sickness: I would call it a career year. He has this kind of talent if he gets this kind of work. But he never will again, I suspect.
YHIHF: I got some love for Hillis. I can't believe McDaniels traded him away. But we're not getting into that. So were there any other injuries today besides All Day?
Football Sickness: Antonio Gates didn't look too healthy tonight.
YHIHF: No, he didn't. I think Gates may be very average for the rest of the year, unfortunately.
YHIHF: I saw Reggie Wayne got a little banged up late in the Colts game, but I think he'll be ok. Looked like a wind-knocked-out situation.
Football Sickness: This Ryan Matthews/Mike Tolbert thing is looking Wally Pipp-ish.
YHIHF: Haha. Tolbert is really stepping up. Phil called that one in August.
IHJJR: Can't believe I dropped Tolbert and Green Ellis earlier this season.
Football Sickness: Hasslebeck's wrist got hit a few times in that game...I wonder if there comes a point where Pete decides he wants to know about Whitehurst (which he should already, but whatever)
YHIHF: Yeah, he should know that already. Whitehurst has been a disaster so far. From what he's shown, at least.
Football Sickness: Florio just said on NBC that Peterson will play next week. So that's GOOD.
YHIHF: I really don't think there were any major injuries. Oh - what the hell happened to Vincent Jackson? Thanks for nothing, VJ.
Football Sickness: VJax had a calf injury and either he's not ready yet or they're just being cautious. Or someone on both sides is involved in some gamesmanship. I saw where Thigpen got some snaps in that Oak-Mia game- anybody see the whole thing? I don't know if Henne got hurt or anything.
YHIHF: I saw that too, Ryan. Henne was playing well before Thigpen came in. I'll do a little research.
IHJJR: McFadden two yards rushing. Chris Johnson five yards. WTF???
Football Sickness: Tennesee looked TERRIBLE w/Rusty Smith. They couldn't run it. Looked like Houston somehow had 14 in the box on every play. Ridiculous.
YHIHF: I'm reading on ESPN.com that Henne should be fine.
Football Sickness: CJ left that game briefly and I thought I saw them concussion checking him.
YHIHF: Rusty Smith is obviously killing all Tennessee fantasy options. Moss was awful anyways, but Nate Washington was producing. Not today.
IHJJR: Keiland Williams almost killed me. Started him over Fred Jackson somehow still won
Football Sickness: And James Davis got a little time in that game...(damn it, Eric.)
YHIHF: Shanahan screwing with RBs again. Ugh.
YHIHF: Any waiver wire targets this week?
Football Sickness: Jacoby Freaking Ford, if you need him.
IHJJR: Gerhardt just in case.
YHIHF: Good calls, guys. AP owners definitely need to pick Gerhardt up.
Football Sickness: Yeah, Gerhardt is a smart handcuff or 'in case' guy.
IHJJR: I'm still looking for that diamond in the rough to stash on my bench for playoff time.
Football Sickness: You've probably added and dropped him twice already, Phil.
IHJJR: Lol true.
YHIHF: Sam Bradford could help some deep league teams. The kid went over 300 for the first time in his career today. Kudos to him.
Football Sickness: Bradford is not available in any league I play in.
YHIHF: They must all be keeper/dynasty leagues, haha.
Football Sickness: Or big rosters. There may be one league. But I think people just "like" him.
YHIHF: Yeah, he's playing beyond his years. He's going to be a star in this league.
IHJJR: Do people drop Torain? Keiland Williams? Both?
YHIHF: I'm staying away from the Redskins backfield for the fantasy playoff run. Too risky.
Football Sickness: I think you can drop Torain but who the hell knows at this point. That's why I just crossed the Redskins off my "ownable" list altogether this year. Seriously. All of 'em. Just Said No.
YHIHF: If only Tiger and Brett could have said the same thing. Hey-oooo!
Football Sickness: Well played.
YHIHF: It was nice to see Dwayne Bowe channel his inner Jerry Rice again today. My hell. 170 more yards and 3 more TDs.
Football Sickness: Bowe is a MONSTER now. Can't not play him anymore, ever.
YHIHF: Yep. Now leads the league in TDs. Unreal. I did NOT see that coming.
IHJJR: God me either.
YHIHF: He's making Matt Cassel a decent fantasy option. Matt flippin' Cassel.
IHJJR: Guarantee Bowe disappoints in the fantasy playoffs. He's that kinda guy.
Football Sickness: Former backup to Carson Palmer, Matt Leinart, and Tom Brady. Chiefs are going to score a LOT of points.
YHIHF: I think we have to mention our favorite Chief of all today - Jamaal Charles baby! Big day today. Finally.
IHJJR: Yes that was great to see.
YHIHF: He even got a goal line TD. I'm lovin' that.
Football Sickness: He was power running throughout that game. Between the tackles, goal line, head down. Go back and look over his second half last year. The VAST majority of his fantasy points came in the second half of the year.
YHIHF: He's just awesome. Period. I think we're all man-crushing on JC. Except Charlie Weis and Todd Haley, of course. The two that matter.
Football Sickness: He's not that different from Chris Johnson. Seriously. May not be quite as durable.
YHIHF: Yep. Agree.
IHJJR: I love Charles. I won't go into details but he does have a restraining order against me.
YHIHF: Haha nice.
YHIHF: One last thing I'll throw in here before we wrap this up - as long as Hakeem Nicks and Steve Smith are out for the G-Men, I think Kevin Boss is a decent TE option. Not great, but decent. There are a lot of TE's hurt, so he could help a fantasy team short term.
IHJJR: Manningham too.
YHIHF: Fred Jackson a must start to you guys at this point?
Football Sickness: Agree on Fred Jackson.
YHIHF: If he can produce against the Steelers, he can do it against anyone. And how about Stevie Johnsons drop today. Wow.
Football Sickness: OOOOH. That one hurt.
YHIHF: I stood up off the couch screaming at the TV, haha
YHIHF: Any more nuggets you dudes want to throw in?
Football Sickness: Jake Delhomme still sucks. This just in.
IHJJR: As the playoffs start soon make sure your bench is setup effective. Backup QB and TE are pointless at this point. If you have Rodgers you don't need another QB. Use that spot for a sleeper WR or RB handcuff.
YHIHF: I might keep a back up QB, but you're right about the TE. No need for two on a roster.
Football Sickness: I have Vick and no backup. If I need one, I'm FOOKED anyway.
IHJJR: ie if you have Chris Johnson grab Javon Ringer now if he's a free agent.
YHIHF: How deep are your leagues, Ryan? More than 12 teams, I suspect.
Football Sickness: 12 teams, but DEEP rosters. Developmental or just weird format.
YHIHF: Ahh. I see. Alright fellas, I think that about wraps it up for this week. Any last pieces of info?
IHJJR: Will be doing a Ravens/Steelers podcast this week with some guys from a Steelers blog. Should be filled with shit talk haha
YHIHF: Right on. I'll look forward to it. Alright guys, thanks for your time, as always. Lots of great stuff from you both. Same time, same place next week.
Football Sickness: Thanks fellas!
YHIHF: Have a good night pimps.
IHJJR: See ya gentlemen.
