This Week in Pop Culture
Say it ain’t so, Joe. Jessica Simpson’s father Joe was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence around 10PM on August 4. Joe (54) was pulled over on Ventura Blvd. in California, booked, and released the next day without having to post bail. No mug shot has been released yet…but I can’t wait to see it.
Randy Travis’ naked DUI, and that’s not the most embarrassing part of the story. Country star Randy Travis is at it again. Six months ago, Travis was arrested in Dallas for public intoxication. This time, he stepped it up a notch and crashed his car over some barricades and into a construction zone whilst in the nude. The worst part of the story: this wasn’t some Maserati, Lamborghini or even Mercedes Travis was driving. It was a 1998 Pontiac Trans Am. Yikes!
After being cuffed, Travis threatened to “shoot and kill” the officers working on his impending case. When he arrived to jail, cops gave Travis a shirt to wear for his mug shot and a paper suit to cover his nether regions.
If this isn’t a cry for help, I don’t know what is. You stay classy, Randy.
Battle of the Queens. These two old hags are at it again. Sir Elton John had a few choice words for Madonna’s on-stage antics as of late (nipple-slipping, crotch-baring, etc.). A sampling of his thoughts: “She looks like a fucking fairground stripper…she’s such a nightmare. Her career is over.”
Tell us how you really feel, Elton.
Madonna has yet to respond to John’s comments.
Babies havin’ babies. Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler (29) and former Hills narrator Kristin Cavallari (25) welcomed a son, Camden Jack Cutler, this past Wednesday morning. The pair previously broke off their engagement before reuniting when Cavallari announced she was knocked up in January. Maybe this time it’ll stick? Mazel.

See It: The Campaign [R] – I mean, do I really even have to explain why you should see this movie? If so, two words: Will Ferrell.
See It after The Campaign: The Bourne Legacy [PG-13] – Hey, you’re at the movies already, go ahead and theatre-hop over to a showing of the new Bourne movie. You (probably) won’t regret it.
