Will the Orioles have Home Field Advantage in the World Series?
Unlike in other sports, the MLB All-Star games means something. The winning league gets Home Field Advantage in the World Series. The last two years the NL has won the All-Star Game and then gone on to defeat the Buffalo Bills, I mean Texas Rangers, in the World Series.
I was going to do a whole breakdown position by position for each league to decide who had the advantage in tonight's game, and then I realized that is a waste of time, the AL is going to win and they are going to win convincingly. Yes, the NL has won the last two years, but with Tim Lincecum forgetting how to pitch, Strasburg being afraid of the heat and the NL lineup losing Howard, Fielder, Pujols and Kemp, there is no way they can keep up in this game. The AL has better pitching( I will take Verlander and Weaer over Cain and Dickey anyday) and they have a better lineup. On a side note, did anyone else hear the rumor that Verlander and Kate Upton were dating, if that is true, he just became my favorite player in the game.
If you are a gambler, I would lean towards the AL Run line and the under. The "public" wil have you believe that if the AL wins the over will hit and if the NL wins, the under will hit. I can see the validity of those points, but at the end of the day I see the AL up 3-2 or 4-2 after 5 innings( yes, I am saying they will win the first 5 bet) and then closing the game out 5-3 with the under of 8.5 hitting. This is an exhibition game and it is filled with all-stars trying to crush the ball, so I would bet small( about half of what you would normally bet on a game) on the total, because even though the under is the smart place, if this game ended 6-4 either way, no one would be surprised. In the last 4 years, there have been 7 runs or fewer scored in this game. I think the AL pitching is just as strong as t has been in the past and the NL is just a little weaker. The 2nd half of the game( last 4 innings) normally has the feel of a playoff game and has that great defense, great pitching mentality for most of the players with HFA on the line. With the AL having so many players from Tex, LA, and New York( all 3 with world series hopes), they will be more motivated and more focused and the AL Run Line is the best bet of the night.
